Morbillivirus is a genus of viruses of concern because of their ability to infect humans and a variety of animals, leading to diseases such as measles and canine distemper. The production of vaccines requires the propagation of viruses in vitro using eukaryotic cell cultures.
Increasing the viral yield during in vitro viral cultivation is crucial to enable scaling up production, maintaining cost-effectiveness, and extending vaccines’ shelf life.
What we're looking for
We are interested in proven methods to increase the viral yield from eukaryotic cell cultures in vitro, with particular interest in increasing the yield of Morbilliviruses in established cell lines.
Solutions of interest include:
Novel methods to improve yield of Morbillivirus or closely related viruses from any eukaryotic cell lines
Cell culture media or supplements to increase/enhance viral yield
Solutions for increasing virus secretion or release into cell culture media from infected cells
Scalable approaches to increase the concentration of live viral fluids
Optimized cell lines with reduced interference / defense mechanisms that can inhibit replication
Our must-have requirements are:
Data that demonstrate a significant increase in live virus titer (ideally 10-fold)
Methods must be scalable
Our nice-to-have's are:
Use of immortalized cell lines
What's out of scope:
Methods of increasing viral yield which cannot be applied to Morbillivirus
Propagation in non-eukaryotic cells
Acceptable technology readiness levels (TRL):
Levels 4-9

Q.
We have a 3D graphene scaffold that has been demonstrated to increase both the yield and viability of various cell lines. Our process is scalable and we'd be willing to supply the material to you if you wanted to test it. Is this something you'd be interested in?
Thank you for your comment and question. This could be of interest - if you could provide additional information and submit a proposal, that'd be much appreciated. Thanks!

Q.
We have a patented immortal cell line that grows many viruses. We demonstrated and published on knock out of an important anti-viral mechanism, increasing yields of virus 10 to 100-fold. Is this of interest?
Thank you for your post. The Morbillivirus require a specific receptor for infection. If your cell line could circumvent this requirement, this would be interesting. Please provide additional information and submit a proposal. Looking forward to reviewing it. Thanks!
